Analysts at School Board Spotlight, a project of the Pipeline Education Fund that brings accountability to school boards that are pursuing harmful policies, unveiled new research showing that a troubling number of school boards across Pennsylvania are promoting censorship and discriminatory practices at the expense of students and parents who want to keep politics out of the classroom. The research, conducted by analyzing school board agendas, meeting minutes, and policy changes that have taken place since 2023, found that 1 in 5 of the school boards reviewed have passed censorship measures, book and library restrictions, and targeted LGBTQ+ students with discriminatory practices. In total, the Pipeline Education Fund conducted a review of 193 school boards across the Commonwealth.
